A boiler service is an essential
annual check that the system is working well and that there are no issues that
may make the boiler unsafe. Gas needs to burn at the right temperature and with
the right mix of gases to make sure that it is safe and not creating deadly
carbon monoxide.
Even apart from the safety angle,
calling me in to do a thorough service of your gas boiler will ensure that it
is running at optimum efficiency, lengthening its useful life and also making
it more frugal in its use of gas.
When I have finished, I will
stamp your manufacturer’s booklet, as a record of the service. This will also
serve as a reminder of when the next one is due.
A typical boiler service
includes:
A check and reset (if required)
of the rate at which the boiler is burning gas.
A visual check of the flue and
terminal to make sure there are no obstructions.
A check on ventilation –
especially important if you have had new doors, windows or cupboards.
Gas pressure and emissions when
the boiler is working. If necessary at this point, the burner may need a clean.
A look around the outside of the
boiler to make sure there is no rust or possibility of a leak.
A general check to make sure that
the controls and readouts are working properly.
If anything is found to be
unsafe, it will be fixed if appropriate, or I will tell you that you have a
problem and we can work out another visit should it be necessary. For further information
